I made the point of mentioning PRAIRIE TOWN when he ran here a couple of weeks ago, with the argument that he’d be of considerably more interest if he turned up after Christmas with the cheekpieces back on; lo and behold, he turns up here for a race he won two years ago (from a mark 12lb higher) with the headgear reapplied, so he’s worth a bet given this looks to have been the plan all along.
He ran perfectly well here on his reappearance over a trip too short back in November and the step up in trip ought to have suited him last time, but there wasn’t a penny piece around for him and he ran as the market suggested.
That was much the case before he won this in 2019, so it isn’t something to be worried about, and I expect to see money for him in the morning.
