Here’s today’s selection

1:00 Hereford – Gambie Tiep

The Royal Equestrian Bedding Novices’ Handicap Hurdle looks competitive, but I fancy that there is a great deal more to come from GAMBIE TIEP, who ran as if just in need of the run on debut for Robert Walford at Wincanton, and whose French form suggests he will improve for the switch to faster turf here.

Trained by Sindy Marsch in France, he won a good ground bumper, and his only moderate run came on the softest ground he encountered. It was heavy at Wincanton, and he travelled best before getting tired late, impressing with his jumping in particular.

He looks to have Kerry Lee’s Black Poppy to beat, but while that one seems to have a sound chance on form after making the frame on all his completed starts over hurdles, he’s not progressing, and the selection is taken to improve past him.

Maninsane would have been placed but for falling at the last at Doncaster, and has claims on that, but he’s now come down twice without making much of a mistake, and probably wants to get his landing gear checked.
