Not a race of much interest, really, but if – and only if – the rain has come in some quantity we might risk a point on TOWNSHEND (Who? A music joke there, for you all) as he’s the one most likely to appreciate plenty of cut.
Whilst clearly not the force he was (last win, two years ago, came off a mark of 139, as opposed to just 109 today) catching him fresh might be the key, with that win coming off a 271-day absence.
He’s going to be professionally ridden for the first time in a long time too, with Sam Twiston-Davies taking the ride (has won on him in the past) and we could be tempted in with a point if he’s a big double-figure price.
