Quite often, for these marathon chases, you tend to start at the bottom and work your way up, with those carrying the lesser weights supposedly advantaged. That’s not the case for the Devon National, with the last five winners carrying 11-6 or more, and class seems to be the key.
Snuff Box continues his good run and has a chance of the hat-trick under a penalty, but this represents a fair drop in class for The Two Amigos, and he may be able to give the weight away.
His record in Class 3 handicaps reads 1142, and he ought to strip fitter for his second to Blaklion at Haydock in December, his first completion this season after falling at Aintree the time before.
Whilst his win record leaves a little to be desired, he’s generally consistent when the ground rides soft/heavy and does have a C&D win to his name. He’s capable of a big run here.
