The horse who stands out on a modest card at Sedgefield is the Susan Corbett-trained ATOMIC ANGEL in the carpetgallop.co.uk 01785719991 Handicap Hurdle over the marathon trip of 3m3f. Otterburn-based Corbett is in decent form at present, with two wins from her last three runners, and Atomic Angel showed herself a thorough stayer when winning over 3m in deep ground at Hexham in December. She progressed again when making most to score over C&D last time by 3½ lengths from Now Is The Winter, and although raised again in the weights for that, remains in lowly class 5 company.
That improvement shown here last time is fully backed up by the clock, and she is clearly well suited by the unusual demands of the marathon journey here. She only has Banana Joe for company if going forward again, and the pair ought to dominate if not asked to do too much too soon.
